16 April 2026 – Sasol Banyana Banyana are confident that they will get another win over Algeria in their second international friendly match against the North Africans set for the King Zwelithini Stadium in Umlazi, near Durban on Friday.
Kickoff is at 15h00.
The two nations met on Tuesday with the hosts emerging victorious with Nthabiseng Majiya scoring the solitary goal of the match in first half. South Africa and Algeria are using the games to prepare for the 2026 CAF Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) scheduled to be played between 25 July and 17 August in Morocco.
Banyana Banyana players believe a positive result will be a huge confidence booster.
“Winning brings a lot of confidence and we’re always looking for results, but I think a win for us will bring that confidence going into the next window and having WAFCON so close, we are always looking to win. I think for us it’s more about the performance and what we put out there, about the style, and what we bring to the game on Friday, but getting a win would be great,” said goalkeeper Kaylin Swart.
“I think it’s going to be tough, the first game is always different to the second and it’s a friendly, but it’s never friendly whoever we play because everyone wants to beat us. We just need to be ourselves and enjoy it, and I think the goals will come. The results will come, as long as we just put our best foot forward and continue to thrive for great results.”

Banyana Banyana missed several changes in the first match against the North Africans, and midfielder Linda Motlhalo says they need to be lethal in front of goal.
“We’ve seen how they approach the game. It is so different in the first half and second half, so I think we are ready, we have analyzed them, we know how we’re going to approach the game. What we need to work on is being ruthless in front of goal, if we get the chances we need to convert them, that’s the biggest part of our game and we’ve been working on and it will get better as time goes by. Playing such friendlies is very important for the WAFCON and the Hollywoodbets Super League hasn’t started, so it’s good that we get a little bit of time together and we get to gel and work on what we need to work on,” said Motlhalo.
Defender Karabo Dhlamini will reach half a century of caps when she runs out against Algeria at the King Zwelithini Stadium, following on the heels of Bambanani Mbane who celebrated 100 appearances for Sasol Banyana Banyana on Tuesday at the Princess Magogo Stadium.
