Orlando Pirates Reserves continue their DStv Diski Challenge campaign with a trip to KwaMhlanga, where they will face TS Galaxy on Saturday.
The first third of the current Reserve League season draws to a close this weekend, and the Bucs Reserves are among the sides currently locked in a tight race for top spot.
Form Guide
They sit in second place after securing a dramatic 1-0 home victory over Royal AM last Saturday. This briefly placed them at the top of the standings putting them level on points with Mamelodi Sundowns, who played to a stalemate in their fixture to climb back to the summit.
The win at Rand Stadium was a second successive victory for Joseph Makhanya’s young charges, who are currently unbeaten in their last four matches with three wins and a draw.
Their only defeat of the season came on the road, and they will be looking to avoid a similar banana peel as they take on a Galaxy outfit that’s yet to lose on home soil.
The Rocket have however seen their early-season form desert them over the past five weeks, where they have only managed four points through one win and a draw.
Having started the season with three wins in as many matches, they now occupy seventh place after a convincing 3-1 defeat away to SuperSport United in their most recent outing.
Head-to-Head
Results in this fixture have gone one way in the past 18 months, with the young Buccaneers enjoying a spell of dominance over The Rockets.
The Soweto Giants completed a double over their Mpumalanga counterparts last season, and have stretched their winning run to three matches where they have found the net six times while only conceding once.
Their last defeat came in January 2022 when Galaxy claimed an upset win at Rand Stadium, walking off 2-0 victors on the day.
